Temporary Tattoos; Live Like A Rockstar

Live like you’re a rockstar with temporary tattoos! As the summer starts to wind down and parents are getting their kids ready to head back to another school year, people start to think about the seasons getting ready to change and the holidays that will be approaching. One of my favorite holidays is Halloween, which brings me to why I am bringing up temporary tattoos.

In my previous article I shared about one of my favorite rock bands, which is Kiss, and dressing up as them for Halloween for many years. It always did make me feel like I was living like a rockstar. Halloween costumes have really come a long way from those old vinyl pull-on suits and your plastic mask that you could barely breathe through.

To have a great costume back then you needed to either have a great imagination, or like me, a mom who was great at makeup and sewing. The one thing I wished they had back then was temporary tattoos that rocked. I think the only cool temporary tattoos then were the Kiss ones I received in my Kiss Alive 2 album.

Today you can wear temporary tattoos that look so real, one might think you just walked out of the tattoo parlor. Halloween is one of the best ways to showcase that temporary tattoo as you dress up as one of your favorite characters, whether it is a celebrity, a favorite athlete, or the biggest rockstar. Most of these personalities have several tattoos, and this look can be created without going to get permanent ink.

Halloween doesn’t have to be the only time to rock temporary tattoos. Today people will wear them because they like them and because they are not quite ready to lay down the cash for one, or just not sure if they want to wear one permanently. I get asked a lot about of questions about tattoos from people that are sitting on the fence about getting one. The biggest questions I get are: “I don’t like needles, will it hurt?” and “What if I don’t like it?”

I’ll suggest that they wear a temporary tattoo for a bit and see if it’s for them. Some do come back and say YES, ultimately getting a permanent one. Others say it was fun, but not for them. I also see others who hate the needle and just wear temporary ones, allowing them to frequently change what they wear.

Children also love tattoos, but let’s face it, no parent is going to let their child get a permanent ink job done, nor will most shops do it for that matter until they’re a certain age with parent consent. Temporary tattoos can be a party favorite at a child s birthday party. Some advice though, get all the parents’ consent. You don’t want to send a child home with one to an outraged parent. Today they have all kinds of neat ones for kids, from Disney to their favorite superhero. Sometimes letting a child feel a little grown up can be fun. Remember, it’s not permanent and it’s nontoxic.

Here I will share a listing of some of the temporary tattoos you can wear for any occasion. These are all nontoxic and can be worn by anyone. They will usually last three to five days. Some factors that could affect the length that they last are sun, sweat, and how frequently you shower. Removal is very easy with the use of rubbing alcohol, body oil, or olive oil.

  1. This gives me some great ideas for gifts for my nephews and even my niece, she’s all grown up but you offer a real nice set of options.

I’ll be sure to ask their moms first if it’s ok to get them temp tats for their birthday and definitely an option for Halloween.

I have one real tat on my shoulder of a lion. It’s ok, but I won’t be getting any more real ones – just my preference.

Thanks for the cool recommendation and layout of selections.

  2. This is amazing! The technology for these temporary tattoos are extraordinary. I am definitely going to have to look at some of those. I do have a question though, I was trying to find it in the past but do you know of any paper that you could print your own designs for temporary tattoos?

    1. Hello Tony. Thank you for taking the time to read my article. Temporary tattoos today are out of this world.
To answer your question yes they do make temporary tattoo paper and you can find them at a lot of craft stores.

  3. I have two big fears. Maybe you can write back to them regarding my daughter wearing temporary tattoos.

The first concern I have is based on my religion. If I put something on her then I don’t want my church to find out. How long will these last? Is there a way of taking them off before she attends her church?

I really don’t want her to grow up to have tattoos on her body. If I give her temporary ones. Will she grow up wanting them?

    1. Hello Liz. Thank you for taking the time to read my article. I will try to answer this the best I can for you.
They can last from 3 to 5 days and can be removed with rubbing alcohol, body oils or olive oil.
For religious purposes if that is a concern then I would recommend not doing it. Allowing her to wear them doesn’t really mean she’ll want them when she’s older. I have 3 daughters and the state I live in allows permanent at age 16 with parents consent.
But they know I won’t allow it till their 18. I hope this helped.
      Best Wishes,
      David

  4. Hi David, I have never thought about wearing a temporary tattoo before. As I get older I do feel I would be more likely to try new things as opposed to when I was younger. Strange hey? And I reckon a temporary tattoo would be the way to go to see if I like it 🙂

It’s a great idea to get some temporary spooky tats for halloween; I know it’s a big thing in the US and we are starting to follow suit over here now, which is great because I have always loved dressing up!

I must admit that I LOVE the sleeve tattoo’s, especially on men. They have to be just right though and not to block colour dark which you see sometimes. That’s a matter of opinion though I’m sure.

Thanks for yet another interesting post. You’re so good at this, I think you’ve almost convinced me to actually get a tattoo! Ha ha

I never thought about a temporary tattoo to see if you’d like it as a permanent ink. That’s actually a great idea. I know people who are considering tattoos and I will bring this idea up to them so they can consider this.

How long to temporary tattoos last? What is the cost?

I love how far temporary tattoos have come along! Some of them are so stunning and you are absolutely right one would be hard pressed to tell if its fresh ink or temporary!

Are the arm sleeve temporary tattoos difficult to apply? Could you apply them easily alone, or do you recommend a little help?

  14. Hey David!

Sweet post as always and really good timing for Halloween!

Funny enough, my partner and I were discussing Halloween and what we were going to do. Also, my little girl will be 16 months so I might be able to get her out this time for some ‘trick or treat’-ing and make this her first Halloween. So I want to make this one special.

I’ve been thinking about what types of costumes to do for her and one of the ideas is just a good ol’ punk rocker (like her mama). These tattoos would really be cool to do for her! Thanks so much for the idea! I will definitely be purchasing some through you.

    Tina

    1. Hello Tina. Thank you for taking the time to read my article. That is really awesome your daughters first Halloween. Ya I agree just like mama a punk rocker. I would definitely like to see some pictures. As always I appreciate you visiting my website and hope you will continue to visit.

  15. Wow, those full sleeve temp tattoos look AMAZING! I didn’t even know they made temp tats that looked so realistic.

I like the idea of wearing a temp of a tat you might actually want to get done. There are a few of my own that I wished I had taken for a test-drive first. Sometimes you just don’t know how the image is going to stretch and pull as you move until you actually see it in real life. I’ll know what to do next time!

    1. Hello Annie. Thank you for taking the time to read my article.Temp tats have come along way arm sleeves that are so realistic. Lots of people like to take a tattoo for a test drive before they make that leap. People also like to find what closely resembles what they want, to make sure it’s what they want before they make it permanent. Thank you again for visiting my website and hope you will return for future articles.
      Best Wishes,
      David

  16. Thanks for the awesome tattoo ideas. The alternative of wearing them (tattoos) temporarily works for me. There are times when I just need to feel like a rockstar, yet am not ready to commit a permanent tattoo, these will do well for me.
