Tattoos Restoring Faith

Tattoos are helping the world restore faith in humanity. Today, we seem to live in a world of chaos. Every time you turn on the news, all you ever see is the worst; the murder rate increasing or another celebrity committing suicide. Hate is at an all time high as we are currently living in a world divided.

Even with all the sadness in the air, we can still find beauty within such negative occurrences.Man-Thinking

There is still a lot of good happening, you just need to open your eyes and look around.

This brings me to why I’m writing this article. You see, in the tattoo world, many wonderful things are being done to help restore faith in the human world. So grab a beverage and a chair, and let’s chat about tattoos restoring faith.

The Mission To Help Breast Cancer Survivors

One of the worst things I can think of that a woman has to face is breast cancer. Statistics show that 1 out of 8 women will develop breast cancer.

This is incredibly devastating for any woman and their families to have to go through. It becomes a physical and emotional battle.

There is no woman that should ever have to go through this devastating trauma. Unfortunately though, it does happen, and the emotional pain doesn’t stop when a woman becomes a survivor.

Many women must undergo a mastectomy, having full or partial breast removal, and some opt to have them removed to prevent possible return of this horrible disease.

This can cripple a woman inside and leave them feeling broken. Many will feel as if their body has betrayed them or worry how their partner will accept this change. Some may fell like less of a woman, and feel unattractive.

hip- chickOne who hasn’t gone through this simply cannot understand. Some woman are able to have breast reconstruction, and some cannot. Now, I will get to how this relates to the tattoo world, and how it has been helping women to gain their lives back.

After a woman undergoes breast reconstruction, one important aspect left out is the nipple and areola. Many M.D.s have tried to recreate them in their offices, but it just did not have a natural look.

One artist I would like to share about is Vinnie Myers. Funny thing about it, he lives in Maryland which is the same state I reside in. He is one of the top leading nipple artists today, who gives it a 3D look.

Women from all over the world have traveled to have this done at his shop. At one point, for a reason unstated, he was getting ready to shut down shop.

He had already told his desk employee to stop taking appointments when he got a call that changed everything.woman-chest

The dreaded call I talk about is the one you get from a friend or loved one who is sitting outside the Doctor’s office after receiving life changing news and you’re the first person they confide in.

This happened to Vinnie, as he was the first person to receive a call from his sister, telling him that she had breast cancer.

He knew at this point he couldn’t shut it down. Today, Vinnie’s daughter, Anna (who grew up in his shop) is now on his team as one of the leaders in nipple and areola tattoos.tattoo- pink

For women who may not be able to have breast reconstruction, artists are creating beautiful tattoos for women where their breasts used to be. With all this, a woman’s dignity, self -esteem, and confidence and these tattoos can help restore faith in themselves.

Taking Away the Hate

Billy White owns Red Rose Tattoo in Zanesville Ohio. Today, he is giving back by restoring love in the human race, one tattoo at a time. Billy has stated that tattoos, along with his 7 year old daughter, has saved his life

After loosing both of his parents 49 hours apart due to terminal illnesses, he fell into the grips of alcohol and drug addiction. As he explains, it was like an explosion when he realized he needed to pull it together.

He watched a documentary on the August 2017 White Nationalists Rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, where a woman was struck by a car and killed, and 19 others were injured. He then decided it was time to start spreading love.

female- gothMany people do things in the name of hate, then regret it later on down the road when they no longer stand for it.

Some people have showed hate through tattoos with swastikas, the Ku Klux Klan

insignia, or even rebel flags. Some people reach a turning point in their lives and don’t want them anymore.

Billy’s mission is to offer free cover-ups for hate tattoos, and he’s become quite a hit. He has also stated that other artists have gotten on board with this, and he doesn’t see it stopping anytime soon.

Books and Inks

Growing up as a child, Nando Mondragon lead the nerdy life and did well in school. As a teenager he took a wrong turn on his journey in life and ended up incarcerated for six years.

During that time, he buried himself in books, using it as away to turn his life around.

Now president of Certified Tattoo in Denver, Colorado, he graciously gives back to others in thanks for the books that saved his life.

He hosts a charity event at the Denver Library called Books and Inks and explains it’s a way to break both stereotypes of having tattoos and being a nerd.woman- book

Artists at this event give book-themed tattoos, and also “nerdy” things, like the Dewey decimal system. It’s always a huge turn out, and all proceeds go towards the library.

These only begin to scratch the surface of tattoo related charities that take place. There are many others that occur, like raising money for sick dogs, or providing medications to children’s hospitals.

Today, artists all over the world are giving back to the communities that they live in. They have some of the most beautiful hearts one could ever Imagine.

Some have been through some painful experiences and have found peace by sharing their talent and love for the world. It’s their way of restoring faith in humanity.

Rock your Journey,

David

  2. You’re so right, David. People go through hard times in their lives and tattoos are a great way to deal with them.

Tattoos are a great way to deal with pain, but the thing you should be paying attention to is the design and your will. Ther are many people that get tattooed with bad tattoos just because they’re too excited about it.

The free tattoo removal campaign is a great idea. It’s a little support for people who had made mistakes earlier in their lives, but it’s a good way to show that everything can be made up.

    1. Hello Durukan. Thank you for taking the time to read my article. People do things that later on down the road doesn’t suit them anymore. Tattoos are one of them and sometimes you get a tattoo to resemble your beliefs and later want it removed and doing a cover up for it is one of the great ways of doing it.
