Rotary Making Its Way

Next to your standard coil machines, the rotary machine is making its mark in the inking industry and is not looking like its backing down. More and more artists are giving them a try. Some love them, and others stick to the old. Its what works for you that counts.

Artists today are looking to be able to go from lining to shading on the fly as there is high demand for larger, detailed art. With artists spending longer hours on their art, they want comfort and reliability without arm and hand strain. Today, lets take a look at the Dragonhawk Extreme Rotary Machine.

The Extreme Machine

Compared to some of the higher end machines (like bishop which can run as high as $500) this low price machine packs a punch. With a lightweight carbon unibody and being nicely balanced, it is easy to handle and can be used for long periods at a time. Having a Japan built motor, it runs smooth and quiet through all voltage settings and can be used for hours without getting hot.

A big like with this machine is that it can be used as a liner and shader. It really does pack in the colors and also holds magnum needles, going up to a 50 mag needle. This beast comes already lubed and also comes with a bottle of lube. With very little set-up, its just about ready to be used right out of the box.

The clip cord hook-up makes it fast for cord hook up. It has very smooth transitions and also causes a lot less skin trauma, which can also aid in faster healing time. The only downside is that it doesn’t come with a manual, but it is very easy to figure out.

So if you are just starting out, or are already a veteran, and you want to give a rotary machine a try this machine is a must buy for the price it can pay for itself in your first tattoo. This machine could end up being your go-to.

Please don’t hesitate to leave a comment.

Keep Rocking your success,

David

  1. Great article. The extreme machine sounds like an amazing tool for any tattoo artist. The price alone sounds like a steal.

  2. The thing about tattoos is that a good artist is able to show his/her expertise and with this machine what they can achieve is astronomical. Your post is excellent.

  3. Hello Phillip. Thank you so much for taking the time to visit my website. The Interesting comment you brought up was tattoos used to identify someone in many cultures that’s what they are used for and in earlier war times soldiers were tattooed with their ss number and blood type in case they couldn’t be identified. Also your never to old to get your first one and I’m sure your not boring. Again thank you so much.
    Best Wishes.

  4. Hi David,

That does look very stylish and I bet the designs would come out amazingly well.

I have a number of family members that just love to get tattooed! For myself, I am too boring, never got one.

I blame my English for that. He said that if you want to be unique in life – don’t get a tattooe. It made sense to me at the time.

Most people I meet now have a tattooe and yes have even heard stories of some them being identified solely from their tats. Kinda makes think – its like having a huge finger print that is easy to recall to place you everywhere you go. Like a visual GPS for peoples memories.

Anyways, I still want one! Have to do it soon though before I get too old and even more boring – LOL.

    Thanks David!

    – Philip.

  6. I don’t really have any knowledge of these kind of machines, but I am always amazed at the quality of images that I see people have tattooed on them. I suppose it is a combination of a quality machine like this and skill by the artist.

  8. Hi David,
Great info on the Dragonhawk tat machine. Looks a lot different from the one used in Saipan where I got my last one. I did not have any problems with irritation, even though it was 90 + degrees out at the time. With the direction tattoos are going today, being able to line and shade with the same machine should cut some of the time down.

    1. Hello Sanders. Thank you for taking the time to read my post. Yes Tattoo machines have come a long way. Yes artists today spend more time on a piece of work so yes this can cut down some time. Again thank you so much for visiting my website.

      1. I have to be honest and share I have not gotten a tattoo but have family members with them. I am always amazed at the artistry behind tattoos on people and frequently admire them when I am out.

I assume it is because of these quality tools (and of course the creativity of the tattoo artist) that brings those awesome tats to life. In reading this review, I have learned something new about this area of life. Thank you for posting this information for people like me.

        Keep up the great work.
