Dragonhawk has been developing tattoo machines and supplies since March 1, 2005. They make it their mission to develop and deliver inexpensive tattoo products.

They have warehouses in the United States, Europe, and China so they can deliver products as quickly as possible. They serve the beginning artist to the elite, making their products a top competitor in the ink industry.

Let’s take a look at The Dragonhawk Complete Tattoo Starter Kit.

The Dragonhawk Complete Tattoo Starter Kit comes with 9 tattoo machines, all of professional quality, that can be used for lining and shading. It uses ten wrap coils which lowers vibrations, helping aid in less hand fatigue.

It works at voltages of 7v to 10v. The frames are built of high quality iron that is lightweight and specially polished for a nice finish.

The power supply has a built in short circuit and leakage protection making it steadier and safer with more power. A quick and accurate activation/voltage adjustment makes for an efficient machine. Also included, is a clip cord power cord.

50 Dragonhawk needles in a variety for lining and shading that are Ethylene Oxide gas sterilized and individually wrapped. 100 ink caps used for putting your inks in during your sessions.

Your kit will include 304 steel grips for great hand comfort.

Comes complete with both steel and disposable tips in assorted sizes for different needle set-ups.

There are 15 to 20 sheets of transfer paper for your stencils.

20 inks made by Immortal Inks made in the USA

Allen wrench tools for adjustments

Comes with a bag with o-rings and rubber bands

And last but not least, it comes with a carrying case.

So, lets talk about the cons. I find that the machines you see pictured with the cool skulls and such, tend to be a bit heavier and will need some practice to get used to.

As nice as it seems, the 20 inks that are included are just starter inks and you will need to invest in more, as these may only complete a couple of small tattoos.

As cool as it might sound that it comes with a practice skin, I have yet to find anyone who can honestly say that they have had any luck with practice skin. There are many other ways to practice tattooing, such as using fruits (grapefruit and honeydew are commonly used).

You’ll need to invest in a box of surgical gloves for your tattooing sessions. Remember this is a starter kit and you do have to invest in other products.

My thoughts on this kit is that it is great for the beginning artist who is breaking into the tattoo world and needs the tools to get started. There are a lot of professionals that buy this kit for back up machines, who state that it is a good value for the price. I also love that Dragonhawk has a 100% money back satisfaction guarantee.

NOTE: If you are a beginning artist, I do highly recommend that you get into an apprenticeship to learn proper tattooing and safety.

Rock your success,

David

  4. Although I have friends with tattoos and I think they’re cool, I really never considered getting one. Simply because I hate needles! I can imagine the pain it would cause to have just a small tattoo and having to go through it again in the event that I want it removed.

Until recently, I found out that one of my gay friends who has very thin (or almost invisible) eyebrows decided to have his problem fixed by getting permanent tattoos. I have the same problem too and I am considering doing the same thing.

I’m just wondering if this Dragonhawk complete starter kit can also be used for eyebrows.

    1. Hello Alice. Thank you for taking the time to read my Article. The pain of the needles can be different from person to person it all depends on your pain thresh hold. For eyebrow tattoos a special gun for that is used and you would need to find an artist that specializes in that. Again thank you for visiting my website and hope you will return for future articles.

  5. I could be wrong, but this kit seems like a good deal to me. It’s understandable that you would need to increase your ink inventory since this is a starter kit. But yeah, the practice skin is a nope. It’s probably not an expensive thing to include in the kit – which is possibly why they do include it. That’s good advice about getting an apprenticeship for starting out. 🙂

  7. Thanks for this review David. The kit seems like an awesome price with great value included, especially for someone starting out. My sister “dabbled” a little in tattooing, and was quiet good, but lost motivation. However I might suggest this to her to see if she is keen to start back up again as she was really quiet good. I see you mentioned that its heavier than others, which could be harder for those with less hand strength. But I will pass on to my sister and see what she thinks.
    Thanks for sharing.

  12. Hi David. Great article on this starter kit. I’ve always wondered where people get these things from and now I can see where.
One question comes to mind when reading this though – are there are qualifications people need to become a tattoo artists or affiliations or anything like that? It seems that if you buy the kit, you could just set up on your own, but surely there would be more regulation to protect the customers. Look forward to hearing your reply. Thanks again.

    1. Hello Gail. Thank you so much for taking the time to read my article. You have great questions. Most states do not require a certification for tattoo artists but studio owners must. The tattoo industry is really not Government regulated. If and when that changes it is up the artist to get into an apprenticeship and learn proper tattooing and safety. But with that also being said there are many great self taught artists who have taken all steps to make sure your tattooing session is safe and enjoyable. I hope this helped. Again thank you for visiting my website and hope you will return for future articles.
      Best Wishes,
      David
