When you walk into a hair salon to get a style or cut, you sit down and the first thing you notice is the stylist’s station. I often wonder how they work in such a little space with a little counter and one drawer to store all their necessary equipment. You’ll see them fumbling through their station to find something like a pair of scissors and you can see the look on their face wishing they had more room.

A tattoo artist is no different. A lot of artists rent their station and there are more than one artist in the studio. They have a small station to work in and keeping things organized can be quite the task. I’ll ask my artist friends how they make it work, and most will say that it takes getting used to.

The work place for the artist is sacred to them. It’s a piece of them, and let me tell you I’ve seen some pretty cool stations. You really can get to know an artist by their station. My artist is huge into gaming and star wars and his wall is loaded with Star Wars action figures.

When you’re in the chair and watching your artist fumbling around to find what they’re looking for, you see that same look as the hair stylist on their face, needing more room. One thing that can take up some room on your artist’s counter is their power supply machine. You will usually see this square box sitting on their counter which supplies the power to their machine to ink you.

I came across this neat little machine that’s really going to change things for the artist’s station. So as always grab a beverage of choice while I have my fresh cup of coffee and let’s chat about this neat little power supply.

Critical Tattoo New Atom Power Supply– Move Over Big Square Box and Make Room.

This little guy is changing the way an artists station looks. By adding this power supply machine, the artist is making a lot of room on their work station for other supplies they will need preventing them from having to look for what they need in the middle of a tattoo sess

New Atom Power Supply Features

This little power supply has some pretty neat features. We’ll start with the push on and off switch feature which makes it very easy and quick to turn on and off. That same button is used to dial in your voltage and what’s really cool is that it lights up and changes to different colors for each voltage. It comes with a graph so you’ll be able to learn what color is what voltage.

Very lightweight and small as you can see by the dimensions. You could almost put it in your pocket and carry it around. It comes with a power adapter and has a jack to plug in your pedal if you prefer using one. On the bottom you will find magnets with suction cups. With the magnets, you can put it anywhere that’s metal. The suction cup feature allows for no slipping on non-metal surfaces.

There’s Always A Downside

The down sides to this little power house. As with all your tattoo equipment you put plastic around it, and with doing so can make it a little harder to work the dial for voltage settings. This fault can be easily worked around. Wrapping it can also lose the suction cup feature, but many artists lay the plastic over top and tape it down.

You’ll have to watch where you hang it, if that’s what you prefer because it can be hard to open drawers if the cords are in the way. If you’re someone who likes to keep your equipment looking brand new, the high polished finish can get scratched. You may also read the reviews which reveals only one bad one.

Today tattoo artists are very busy from one client to the next and this little machine delivers all you need to help keep your station neat and organized. I hope you enjoyed our conversion on the Critical Tattoo New Atom Power Supply and I hope you will return for future conversations.

As always never hesitate to leave a thought or comment.

Rock your Journey,

David

  1. Hi David, yes I know what you mean about space being in short supply for most artist’s. When I go to get my nails done (sorry, girls stuff I know) the poor nail technicians have the same problem. They have tiny little drawers where they need to keep all their bits and bobs and lots of cords everywhere. It’s surprising they do such a neat job with all the paraphernalia around them, but I guess they get used to it.
This little atom power supply box would for sure be a great help to tattoo artist’s as you do want them to be able to concentrate as much as possible on the job in hand considering mistakes would be a lot harder to rectify in their business.

Keep up the good work of making the tattoo business a safer and better experience for everyone!

  7. Hi David,
This bit of kit looks ace! I too have tattoo artist friends and have heard the same, when it comes to trying to keep everything organised, especially when they only have a chair to rent and no extra storage outside of their own little space!

  8. Hello David,

I hadn’t thought about that in a long time since I do my own hair now but you are right! The hair stylists always seem to be cramped and fumbling in a small space! This power supply sounds like a great space saver and I am sure it would be convenient as well. If I was in the business it is certainly what I would want. The color change for different voltages sounds handy as well.

  9. This is a great article I am a huge fan of tattoos I have several ones and I want more. I see what you mean when you state that the artist has a small workspace. I see it often when I accompany some of my friends to get theirs.

The downside to having it covered doesn’t really outweigh the amount of space you will gain in my opinion. Thank you for posting this article I will be sharing it on my social channels 🙂
